 ( ) = ( − )( − )
The general form for factored form or intercept form is
where p and q are the x intercepts.
Ex. 4 Identify the zeros of ( ) = ( + 2 )( − 5 )
Ex. 5 Identify the zeros of = ( − 6)( − 6) ________________________

Ex. 6 Write a quadratic function in factored form with zeros of 2 and -1.
Ex. 7 Write the answer to Ex. 6 in standard form. How can you do that? (Multiply out)
Ex. 8 Write in standard form a quadratic function with zeros of 7 and 4.
Remember you are finding the zeros of the function which is where y=0. So you can write this
equation 0= (x-p)(x-q) and SOLVE using the ZERO PRODUCT PROPERTY
(x-p)(x-q)=0,
then
x-p=0
or
x-q=0
So if
Ex 9: ( − 3 )( + 2 ) = 0
EX 10: ( 2 − 5 )( 3 + 1 ) = 0
Solve for zeros:
Ex 11: 4 ( − 3 )( 2 + 4 ) = 0
EX 12: 3 ( 2 + 5 ) = 0
