Try to pick different topics throughout the year. This needs to be at least 3
sentences long, and use proper grammar and punctuation. Use a sheet of
notebook paper and staple it to your reading log. Rewrite the prompt that you
chose at the top of your paper

Describe a character that you would like to meet. Why would you like to meet
them?
Describe something that you have read that is similar to this, and how are
they similar.
Describe the major conflict. What side are you on and why?
Describe the setting. How does it add to the story?
Create a new setting that you think would be better for the story. Describe
it. Why would it be better?
Describe what was either believable or unbelievable about your reading.
Identify similarities and differences between the main character and you.
Describe your least favorite character and explain why.
Describe your most favorite character and explain why.
If you were a character in this book, who would you be? What would your role
be?
If you could talk to the author, what questions would you ask? Why?
If you were the author, what would you change? Why?
What are at least 2 problems that the character faced? How were they solved?
Pick a quote from the passage and re-write it and respond to it. What does it
make you feel?
How does the text relate to your life?
Why do you think the author wrote this?
What has the author done to keep you interested in the book?
How does the author use figurative language to enhance the story?
The score will be the total points the student scores times 5. For example,
20x5=100.
