TITLE: FOUNDATIONS FOR QUANTITATIVE REASONING
CREDIT HOURS: 3
CONTACT HOURS: 3 (1 hour of hybrid lab work completed using MyMathLab and 2
hours of lecture)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: A course designed to help students learn the basics of
algebra and other topics necessary for Quantitative Skills and Reasoning (MATH 1001),
including the study of elementary algebra, real number sets, set operations, linear
equations, and introductory probability and statistics.
PREREQUISITE OR COREQUISITE: None
FREQUENCY OF OFFERING: on demand
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of this class, students will be able:
1.
To review basic arithmetic skills using fractions and decimals;
2.
To perform operations with signed numbers;
3.
To solve linear equations and applied problems;
4.
To graph linear equations in two variables;
5.
To simplify polynomials and exponential expressions;
6.
To simplify perfect squares using a calculator
