Vanguard ETF Trading Challenge

The Fox School of Business and Vanguard will be hosting an exchange traded fund (ETF) trading

challenge. The competition will be conducted through CapitalWave, a virtual portfolio

management platform. Throughout the competition, each team will buy and sell Vanguard ETFs

at its members’ discretion. At the end of the competition, the top 6 teams will design their own

international ETF and pitch it to Vanguard in a presentation.

Competition Details

 Teams must have 4 members.

 The ETF trading competition will begin on February 13, 2017 and conclude on March 24,

2017.

 At the conclusion of the competition, the top 6 teams will give a 10 minute presentation

to Vanguard, followed by a 5 minute Q&A session. In this presentation, each team will

present its trading decisions and investment strategy for 5 minutes, and then pitch its

international ETF to Vanguard for 5 minutes. Then, there’ll be a Q&A session.

 During the 6-week competition, Vanguard will conduct 2 workshops (February 10,

March 22). The first will focus on ETFs and the second on the design of an ETF.

 The deadline to register for the ETF trading challenge is February 10.

 The top teams will receive Amazon gift cards and other prizes from Vanguard.

 To register, fill out the attached form with all team members’ contact information and

return the form to A438 (Dr. Bora Ozkan’s office) by the deadline: February 10.
