INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS
Who do you list in the Partents’ household?
List all people in the household, including:
 yourself,
(the student)
 your parent(s),
(including a stepparent)
 your parent(s) other children, even if they do not live with your parents, IF
 Your parent(s) will provide more than half of their support from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, OR
 the children would be required to provide parental information when completing a 2016-2017 FAFSA
 other people currently living with your parent(s) for whom your parent(s) currently provides and will continue to
provide at least 50% of their support from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
Do not include the following:
 Foster children
 Any child your parent is paying child support for
NOTE:
Consistent with the Supreme Court decision on the Defense of Marriage Act

(DOMA)
couples must report their marital status as married if they were legally married in a state or other
jurisdiction
that permits same-sex marriage
(foreign country)
(people in a civil union or domestic partnership are

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING NUMBER IN COLLEGE
The number in college should include any household member who is, or will be, in a degree, diploma, or certificate
program at any eligible postsecondary educational institution at any time between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2016.
 Enrolled at least half-time
 The number in college should not include your parent(s)
If the college the person is attending is Fresno State, include that person’s Fresno State Student ID number.
NOTE:
We may require additional documentation if we have reason to believe that the information regarding the
household members enrolled in eligible post-secondary educational institutions is inaccurate.
