Dear Mrs. Simons,

I would like to hereby formally apply for an opportunity to be considered for the position of Store

Manager at (name of company), as advertised in the News Wire Journal on (date).

I believe that I am the right person for this particular position, having had (5) years experience in the

retail industry, working on the shop floor of (name of store/s), and at (name of store) where I am

currently employed.

I have been looking for a change for some time now, as (give reason: need a job closer to home etc.)

and would like to advance my career and be given the opportunity to demonstrate that I am ready to

be promoted to store manager.

Over the past (5) years, I have proven to have excellent communication skills, both with fellow co

workers and customers alike, which has given me the confidence to excel at what I do.

I do believe that I am now ready to take my responsibilities up a level and take on the responsibility of

store manager, being able to lead fellow workers and guide them to be the best that they can be,

having experienced the required duties myself first hand.

During my job at (Victoria Secrets) I assisted the window dresser on a frequent basis as she very much

enjoyed my creative input and ideas which became noticed one day when she was not able to come in

for work. We needed a rushed window display that particular day so we all worked on it together but

my fellow coworkers all liked my ideas and chose me to lead the last minute task we had at hand.

From that moment on, she frequently asked for my input or opinion when she needed it.

The opportunity that I had that day showed me that I have natural leadership qualities as well as the

ability to build a good rapport with staff members in a relaxed manner, enjoyable for all. I am a good

team player and enjoy thinking outside the box.

I believe that I would be a welcome asset to your already dedicated team, bringing together their

individual talents so as to better appreciate one another and therefore to work better together as a

team. These areas of synergy I feel will improve sales, customer relations and keep the store

environment one step ahead of the rest all crucial factors for making a brand and store stand out

from the competition.
