Standard:

predictions about texts; recognize rhyming words; produce rhyming words; identify title and author of book; recognize words are made up of
letters and words make sentences; identify the beginning, middle and ending sounds in single syllable words; print legibly. Generate a
retelling that identifies the characters and the setting in a story and relates the important events in sequential order
Identify letters of the week and their sound: Ee, Ff
Have students trace letters and repeat each letter sound.
Identify words that start with each letter.
Activity: Read story with students and have them follow along from left to right and identify top and bottom of page: “Peg the
Hen”

Track print while sounding out letters using student book and/or book on Smartboard
Review spelling/word recognition words (go, in, get, the, red, and)
Review vocabulary (hen, jet, wet, web, bed)
Identify rhyming words using pictures
Print legibly the rhyming word on student worksheet after demonstrated on Smartboard by teacher
Review chart and list of the characters in the book; title of the book; setting.
Complete worksheet identifying initial consonant TR-blends.
Complete worksheet identifying characters using initial capital letters.

Correctly name shapes regardless of size and orientation; Classify objects into categories and count; Count to 100 by ones and tens; write

days= 1 week and 12 months= 1 year); represent date in standard from and numeric form; represent the place value of each digit in a two-
digit whole number; Represent quantities in word form through ten.
Activity:
Review calendar with students to identify the month, day and year.
Tally marks for place value
Sentence structure for “Today is______. Tomorrow will be ______. Yesterday was ________.”
Days in school timeline for counting sequence and matching quantity with numbers as well as written number.
Identifying the days of the week and the months of the year
Add straws to pocket chart using tens and ones place to identify the number of days in school to help students develop an
understanding of place value
Sort groups of tens to be placed in pocket chart
Rote count to 100 by ones and tens using chant
Identify shapes and then have students recall shape and place in correct category regardless of size or orientation.
Complete charts using tallies
Small group: count objects and match number to each group using clothes pins with numbers.
Small group: Number Book- Count shapes and write corresponding number for the number of shapes.
