Difficult to chart both players as to winners and errors because:
While charting the reason player #1 lost the point, it is nearly impossible to chart the shot
that player 2 hit in order to cause player #1’s error. For example, if Player #1 is forced
into a Forehand error by player #2, you would write FFE (for Forehand Forced Error) in
the appropriate box (if you were charting Player #1) but would not be able to also state
what caused it such as BFE (Backhand Forced Error) which was the shot hit by Player #2
to cause Player # 1’s FFE.
It almost seems that the only way to remain in charge of manual charting, the charter
must focus on just one of the players. This is sad to some degree because it states the
“Effect” but eliminates the extra dimension of “Cause’. We are looking into this further.
