General
All motor vehicles subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations must be systematically inspected. Are they?
Are all parts and accessories in safe and proper operating
condition at all times?
Is the frame and frame assembly in safe and proper operating
condition?
Is the suspension system(s) in safe and proper operating
condition?
Are the axles and attaching parts (wheels and rims, and steering
systems) in safe and proper operating condition?
Are the bus push-out windows, emergency doors, and emergency
door marking lights inspected at least every 90 days?
Required Records/Retention
Each vehicle controlled for 30 consecutive days or more, except
for private motor carrier of passengers (non-business), shall have
the following records maintained:
Vehicle identification number
Company vehicle number
Vehicle serial number
Vehicle year
Vehicle tire size
If the motor carrier does not own the vehicle, is the name of the
person furnishing the vehicle(s) on file?
