Equivalent exposure allows you to alter your exposure depending on want you want to
emphasize in your image. If itʼs motion then you need to concern yourself with shutter
speed. If itʼs depth of field then you need to control the aperture. The third variable is
ISO, or light sensitivity.
Letʼs say you have determined a proper exposure for a scene is 1/250 sec at f/8 with an
ISO setting of 100. Lets say you want maximin depth of field so you change your
aperture to f/22. Since you have now let in 3 stops less light, you need to let in 3 stops
more light by changing your shutter speed to 1/30 sec. Letʼs say also you are using a
50 mm lens, so 1/30 may cause camera shake. If you now change your ISO from 100
to 200, you can gain a 1 stop faster shutter speed, or now 1/60 sec. Using this
