These doses are given every 6-8 hours, as needed, for fever or pain. Notice this is less often than for
acetaminophen (Tylenol). Do not give more than 4 doses per day.
It is best to use weight, rather than age, to determine the correct dose.
If you use a dropper, use only the dropper provided with the medicine.
Do not give ibuprofen to children less than 6 months old.
Do not give ibuprofen if you think your child may be dehydrated.
Ibuprofen only treats fever and pain. It has no effect on cough, congestion or runny nose. It doesn’t
make colds go away faster. It only helps make your child feel more comfortable.
Do not give more than the doses on this sheet. Giving too much can cause serious harm!
