 Borderlands Law will meet from Sunday, May 22, through Saturday, June 4, 2016 (inclusive). The
Laredo Externship will meet from Monday, June 6, through Friday, July 8, 2016 (inclusive).
 I must attend all class meetings, field trips, and other daily activities in Borderlands Law in order
to be counted as present for that day, and that I may not miss more than one day (or any class,
field trip, or activity in one day) in Borderlands Law; if I miss more than one day (or any class, field
trip, or activity in one day) in Borderlands Law, I will be withdrawn from BOTH Borderlands Law
and the Laredo Externship and will receive no credit for either course.
 Borderlands Law will require some preliminary reading to be completed before May 22, 2016, and
will require a final paper to be turned in not later than July 15, 2016.
 The Laredo Externship will be supervised by Professor Cecily Becker, director of the law school’s
externship program; all students enrolled in the Laredo Externship will be responsible for
complying with Professor Becker’s requirements in order to receive credit for the summer
externship, including: attendance at a pre-course orientation on April 22, 2016, at the law school;
participation in online class discussions during the Laredo Externship via e-Campus; and a final
class meeting on August 12, 2016, at the law school.
 I hereby authorize Professor Alton and Professor Becker to share my resume and my transcript,
and to discuss my academic information, as necessary, with potential externship placements for
the purposes of securing an externship in Laredo.
 I will be assigned an externship placement in Laredo, and I am willing to accept the externship to
which I am assigned.
Because of generous support from Texas A&M University, the law school will be able to provide free
housing, most meals, and all course materials from May 22-June 4, 2016, for all law students enrolled in
Borderlands Law. In addition, the law school will be able to provide financial assistance in the form of a
100% tuition discount for the 3-credit Laredo Externship (June 6-July 8, 2016); that is, the student will pay
the tuition and fees for Borderlands Law (3 credits) but will not pay the tuition for the Laredo Externship
(3 credits). An estimate of the student’s financial responsibility for enrollment in BOTH Borderlands Law
and the Laredo Externship (a total of 6 credits) is as follows:
(1) Tuition and fees ($3,336) for Borderlands Law;
(2) 8-10 meals during Borderlands Law ($150);
(3) Room and meals during the Laredo Externship ($3250);
(4) Travel to and from Laredo by car ($150); and
(5) Miscellaneous expenses ($700).
The total estimate of the student’s financial responsibility for BOTH Borderlands Law and the Laredo
Externship (i.e., housing, meals, transportation, and 6 credits from May 22-July 9, 2016) is: $7,586.
