Helpful Information on
Dog and Cat Licensing Requirements
Now available at your Veterinarian or Pet Supply Store
Any person residing in the City of Greeley owning, keeping, harboring or having custody of a dog or cat needs
to obtain a license for such animal. Applications for dog or cat licenses are taken at the City of Greeley
Finance Department, 1000 10th Street, Greeley, CO 80631 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
or at a
partnering agency (usually a veterinarian or pet supply business during their respective normal hours of
operation) for an additional $5.00.
Application for a license is due immediately after having become the owner
of or after having begun to keep, harbor or have custody of any such dog or cat.
Dogs specially trained to aid or assist handicapped or disabled persons and governmental police dogs are
exempt from this licensing requirement.
Proof of current rabies vaccination is required before your pet can be licensed. A rabies vaccination
certification from a licensed veterinarian which includes the rabies tag number, the date of the vaccination, the
expiration of the vaccination, and the name of the veterinarian who administered the vaccination must be
provided to complete the licensing process. Please provide a copy of proof of current rabies vaccination
when mailing your application. We can not accept the information if it is just written onto the form.
Application fees for a three year license are $20.00
($25.00)*
for each altered animal or $30.00
($35.00)
for
each unaltered animal provided the rabies vaccination is good for three years.
Application fees for a two year license are $15.00
($20.00)
for each neutered animal or $25.00
($30.00)
for
each unaltered animal provided the rabies vaccination is good for two years.
Application fees for a one year license are $10.00
($15.00)
for each neutered animal or $15.00
($20.00)
for
each unaltered animal provided the rabies vaccination is good for one year.
Upon acceptance of the completed license application and after payment of the license fee, you will be issued
a durable tag stamped with an identifying number and year of issuance. Your pet should wear the tag at all
times while outside of the owner’s premises.
Failure to license your pet could result in a summons to Municipal Court.
