IMPORTANT CHANGE
REGARDING SPECIAL EVENT SALES TAX APPLICATION EFFECTIVE 1/1/07
• Effective 1/1/07 the Application for a Denver Special Event Sales Tax License has
changed.
• In compliance with the new Colorado Immigration law, the application now includes
an “Affidavit For the City and County of Denver as Proof of Lawful Presence in the
sole proprietors
United States” that must be completed by
applying for special event
sales tax licenses.
• Included in your special event sales tax application packet is the above referenced
“Affidavit.” When completing the affidavit it must be notarized and a copy of
acceptable identification must be included. Acceptable forms of identification
(generally a state-issued driver’s license that includes a photo) are outlined on the
back side of the Affidavit.
• If an application and affidavit (as detailed above) are not submitted prior to the
event, a Tax Revenue Agent may contact you at the event and require you to
complete the special event sales tax application, and an “Affidavit For the City and
County of Denver as Proof of Lawful Presence in the United States” along with
requiring you to produce an acceptable form of identification.
• Copies of the Affidavit and proof of identification will be made and retained in
applicant’s file
