Dear Resident,
Keeping your personal information secure and confidential is a priority in the Finance Department and Income Tax
Division. One thing we have done to protect you is removing your Social Security number from all our tax forms and
billing statements. Each taxpayer account now has a file number assigned that is printed on the tax form in place of
the Social Security number.
One place that we need your help is with email. EMAIL IS NOT CONFIDENTIAL, so we are asking you NOT to include
your Social Security number or any confidential information in any email to the City of Stow Income Tax Division. For
the same reason, we will not answer account specific questions by email. We will mail a written response to any
question to your address of record. If the question is of a general nature, we can and will respond by email.
Another part of the Finance Department’s continuing effort to improve service in the most cost effective way possible is
the Income Tax Division’s new on-line services; residents can now prepare their City of Stow income tax form on-line.
If you do not want to prepare your tax return online, you can check on your estimated tax payments by logging on to
the tax preparation site. To use this no-cost service, you will need the PIN number that is printed on your tax form.
Please remember, the online preparation is not a true E-file. The forms must still be printed, signed and mailed with
all supporting documents (i.e.: W-2 & 1099 Forms.)
If you have your tax forms professionally prepared, please give this entire package to your tax preparer. They will find
the ability to confirm your estimated tax payments online helpful.
