INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR AN EAGLE SCOUT PALM
1. Fill in all applicable blanks on the Eagle Scout Palms Application form 58-709 (pg. 3).
2. Your unit leader must sign and date the completed application form.
3. An Eagle Palm Board of Review must be conducted and the appropriate information filled in and
signed.
4. To apply for your first Bronze Palm, enter the date earned of each of the 21 merit badges you listed
on your Eagle Scout Rank Application on the Master Merit Badge List and, where necessary, write
an upper case “E” in the Used For column next to those dates. Next enter the date earned for each of
the five merit badges to be used for the Bronze Eagle Palm and write an upper case “B” in the Used
For column next to those dates.
5. Make a copy of the Master Merit Badge List form and retain it as your master list.
6. When applying for your first Gold Eagle Palm repeat steps 1 through 4 above on a new Eagle Palm
Application form 58-709, and then add the dates earned for the five additional merit badges used for
the Gold Palm and write an upper case letter “G” in the Used For column next to those dates.
7. When applying for your first Silver Eagle Palm repeat all the above steps using a new Eagle Palm
Application form 58-709, and then add the dates earned for the five additional merit badges to be
used for the Silver Palm and write an upper case letter “S” in the Used For column next to those
dates.
8. When applying for your second Bronze Eagle Palm repeat all the above steps using a new Eagle Palm
Application form 58-709, then add the dates earned for the five additional merit badges for the
second Bronze Palm and write an upper case “B2” in the Used For column next to those dates. For
the second Gold Palm use “G2”, for the second Silver Palm “S2”, and so on, for each additional
Eagle Palm earned. It is possible to earn 7 Bronze, 7 Gold, and 6 Silver Palms.
9. Be sure to keep your Master Merit Badge list copy in a safe place. An up-to-date copy of the Master
Merit Badge List must always be attached to your Eagle Palm Application.
10. Most Advancement Records are available for your use in the registration Office of the Council
Service Center, 2969 N. Greenfield Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016-7715, Phone (602) 955-7747. Office
hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. five days a week except holidays.
Note: When the Eagle Palm Application Packet is submitted to Council, it must contain the completed Eagle
Palm Application form 58-709, the completed Master Merit Badge List, and a completed Advancement
Report form 34403 for one Eagle Palm for one Scout. After processing, the Eagle Palm Application Packet
will be mailed to the Scout’s Unit Leader. Allow two weeks for processing. Remember, a new Eagle Palm
Application must be submitted for each Eagle Palm earned.
