1. Ensure that hot spot locations where a child
might go unnoticed are checked prior to the
group leaving the classroom (at any time).
2. Check for children in adult bathrooms, janitorial
closets, laundry and storage closets, and any
rooms or closets without vision panels on a
daily basis.
3. Evacuation routes or egress paths are clear,
open, and free from obstructions that could
inhibit safe exit from the area.
4. Check to ensure all doors and outside gates
are secure.
5. Emergency telephone numbers are accessible
at all times and posted near each phone.
6. Emergency action plans and procedures are
posted near primary & secondary emergency
exits.
7. Emergency evacuation routes (both primary
(green) and secondary (orange)) are clearly
shown (color coded) on floor plans which are
posted in each classroom.
8. Door alarms function properly.
9. Emergency exits are marked and
unobstructed.
10. Exit signs are well illuminated and clearly
marked.
11. Fire alarm pull stations are easily accessible.
12. There is an 18 inch clearance zone around
all sprinkler heads.
