DEFINITION
The Senior Firefighter shall be defined as the individual assigned to drive fire apparatus and as
classified by the Boise City Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
The Senior Firefighter shall be under the direction of the Captain and shall have immediate charge
of the apparatus to which he has been assigned. He shall be knowledgeable and held accountable
for all firefighting operations and practices.
1.)
APPARATUS OPERATION
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for the efficient
operation of the apparatus that he is assigned to as prescribed by the General
Orders, S.O.P., Training Guide and the Manufacturer's Maintenance and Operation
Manual.
2.)
APPARATUS INSPECTION
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for a thorough
daily inspection of the apparatus and equipment. If any defects are notes, they will
be immediately report din writing to the Company Officer.
3.)
APPARATUS INVENTORY
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for the location
and use of all equipment inventoried on the apparatus, to which he is assigned.
4.)
APPARATUS MAINTENANCE
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for minor
maintenance and upkeep of the apparatus.
5.)
STATION MAINTENANCE
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for daily station
maintenance as assigned by Company Officer.
6.)
RESPONDING
The Senior Firefighter shall be responsible and held accountable for the safe
operation of the apparatus and crew while responding and operating at an
emergency incident. He shall be knowledgeable of the company's first-in district as
far as street names, and numbers and response routes that are the safest and
shortest.
