Hyphenated Numbers
Numbers between 21 and 99 are hyphenated, as in twenty-one, thirty-seven, fifty-three,
sixty-eight, and all the way to ninety-nine. Furthermore, numbers from “one to nine” must
be spelled out as in, one boy, two girls, three houses, four men, five women, six books, seven
trees, eight stars, nine cups. Either 10 boys or ten boys is correct, 11 girls or eleven girls is also
correct.
