Letter to Family

Dear Family,

I would like you to help your child draw a simple shape on a piece of paper to

represent your home. It might be a square or a rectangle, for example. Have

your child draw something that is inside the shape to represent something that

is inside your home. Have your child draw something outside the shape to

represent something that is outside your home. Have them continue drawing to

represent other position words, such as over, between, and under.

In school, I will pair your child with a partner, and he or she will share what they

have drawn with each other. This activity will help in our study of the position of

objects in space.
