Ask students to rewrite the poem by using different metaphors and share

with the class. Ask students to draw/ or find a picture that can best represent

their poem and the teacher will help them compile the poems and the

picture together and publish a class poem album or to decorate the

classroom.

Activity 2

Read aloud some ‘My dreams’ poems to students and point out that some

poems rhyme, but some do not. E.g.

My dreams

I dream about…

sunshine and birds,

rainbows and bees,

shadows and stars

--and I am happy.

I dream about…

lost in the zoo,

kidnapped in space,

monsters at night

--and I am scared.

Give out the template for writing a poem about dreams. Ask students:

First, think of all the different things they dream about and make a list.

Second, select words which sound good when they say them aloud.

Third, follow the style of the poems.
