Compensation Schedule
Town of Ocean View
“Start salary” is the rate for job applicants with little or no experience. This entry
level rate is set by comparable current area entry level wages.
The “top salary” rate is used to determine a scale for job candidates with
experience beyond entry level. The top rate is set by the current Ocean View Wage
Schedule.
Salary increases resulting from performance reviews will be based on the
employee’s present salary.
If an employee receives an overall evaluation of outstanding three years
consecutively, there can be a merit cash award.
A merit cash award could also be granted to any Town employee who is recognized
for outstanding accomplishments above and beyond the requirements of his or her job.
A merit cash award can only be granted one time to an employee in any twelve-
month period.
Any recommendation for a merit cash award must be approved by the Town
Council.
A merit cash award would be not less than $50 and not more than $200.
The probationary period for a new employee is one year. An employee can be
dismissed any time during the one-year probationary period. At the end of a successful
one-year probationary period, the employee attains permanent status and there can be a
salary adjustment.
COLA’s (cost of living adjustment) will not be given unless Council deems it
necessary due to the current economy.
