I have decided to take part in a service trip to Dominica for two weeks in January 2014. The

opportunity is offered through Good News Project, a 30 year old non-profit organization based

in Wausau, WI. It will be a firsthand experience of life and a different culture in a developing

country.

The main objective of the service trip this year is to build ____homes for the homeless. I will be

painting and helping construct the homes. I will also have the opportunity to be present at the

house blessings when we hand the keys over to the new home owner. Each house recipient is

chosen through an application process. An involved local committee in Dominica gathers and

reviews the applications and conducts home visits. They then evaluate and compare the need

with other applicants and confirms the family has land on which to build. Beyond houses, I will

also get the opportunity to teach in a couple schools. Throughout my trip I will be working

alongside Dominican and other American volunteers.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve those in need through this two week opportunity. I

am seeking your support and prayers for this service trip. If you are able to assist with this trip,

I would ask that you forward any donation to me with the check or money order payable to

Good News Project, Inc. All donations are considered tax deductible and you will receive an

acknowledgement and receipt from the organization.
