NAME:
To begin your magazine cover assignment, you first need to start with a concept. Remember, we are somehow putting a portrait
of YOU on the cover of your chosen magazine. Answer the following questions before setting out to photograph and Photoshop.
TITLE. What is the name of your magazine? (Remember, you are choosing a magazine that already exists!)
CONTENT. What topics does your magazine typically cover?
TARGET AUDIENCE. Who is the typical reader of your magazine? Describe their age, gender, and general interests.
WHY YOU? Why are you being pictured on the cover? Why are you important to the target audience?
THE LOOK. What will you be wearing on the cover? Will you be posing with or holding any props?
What will the cropping of your photo be (e.g., head-to-shoulders, head-to-waist, head-to-toe)?
OKAY, NOW SHOW ME. Sketch three possible layouts for your cover. You should experiment with the placement of
headlines, text, pose, etc. Use the Internet to look at other magazines for ideas.
