Adding fractions
o When the denominators are the same
If the denominators of two fractions are the same, the two can
be added by simply adding the numerators and putting this
value over the original denominator, i.e.

o When the denominators are different
When the denominators of two fractions are different, either find
an equivalent fraction for one of the fractions so the
denominators are the same, OR, use the process of cross
multiplication, i.e.

Multiply the numerator and denominator of the first
fraction by 2 so that the denominator of both fractions is
