Pluralization
The 3 rules for making words plural in Spanish are:
1. If the word ends in a __________, add _____.
2. If the word ends in a __________, add _____.
3. If the word ends in a _____, change it to a _____, then add _____.
If the noun becomes plural, the article must also. Demonstrate how this works using the
following examples:
Plural form of both article and noun
1. una actriz ___________________________________
2. la pluma
___________________________________
3. el tablón
___________________________________
4. un perro
___________________________________
Remember that not only do we make sure Spanish articles agree with their nouns, but so
must Spanish adjectives!
To make adjectives agree we must keep in mind the following things:
1. Adjectives that end _____ can change to _____ if needed for gender. (This can also be
reversed.)
2. Adjectives that end in anything else we say are ____________________________________.
3. As nouns, adjectives can also be plural if need be and would follow the same rules as stated
above.
Don’t forget that adjectives in Spanish follow what they describe!
Agreement
Putting all our knowledge of article, noun, adjective agreement together, identify the mistake in
each sentence by circling it. Provide the correction in the space provided.
1. La aeropuerto es importante.
____________________
2. La señorita es romántico.
____________________
3. El escuela es fantástico.
____________________
4. Los papeles son interestante.
