PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Benefit payments are made directly to you. It is your responsibility to keep the VA informed of
your mailing address and direct data.
VA payments are made in arrears. VA uses a 30 day month. The payment is based on the
number of days the student is certified for the month. Payments are prorated for partial months.
Students enrolled under Montgomery GI Bill – Chapter 30, Chapter 1606 and REAP ( Chapter
1607) must self-verify their enrollment monthly by Web Automated Verification of Enrollment
(WAVE) or by Interactive Voice Response (IVR). You can access WAVE from the GIBILL web site
by clicking on the link. IVR allows students “to phone in” (877-823-2378)
You should keep all correspondence received from VA to include your eligibility notice and award
letter. The award letter will provide payment information, self-verification procedures,
remaining entitlement, and time period to use the benefit.
If is your responsibility to provide the college with transcripts from all post-secondary schools
previously attended for an evaluation of the amount of credit that can be allowed toward your
current program of study. In addition, you may submit supporting documentation of any military
training or experience for evaluation purposes.
You must maintain satisfactory progress in accordance with school policy. If you are having
difficulty with a particular course, please inquire about tutorial assistance.
Generally, VA will not pay for courses that are not required for your program of study or count
toward graduation requirements. Benefits are not payable for repeating a course that has been
successfully completed. A course for which a grade of “D” was assigned may be repeated if a
higher grade is required for that specific course. Benefits are not payable for repeating courses
solely to raise your cumulative grade point average (GPA).
If you have questions regarding your VA education benefit, you may visit the website at
, call the toll-free Education Phone Number at 1-888-442-4551, or use the “Ask
A Question” feature on the GIBILL web site.
You must notify the school Certifying Official of any changes in your enrollment information. This
includes dropping or adding a course, changing your major, and an interruption or withdrawal
from school.
I have read and understand the above information.
