KINGS COUNTY PIONEER DAYS BED RACES 2015

RULES AND REGULATIONS

RACING TEAMS:



Teams shall consist of one rider and 4 runners/pushers



Racers must be 18 years old or older to participate

SAFETY:



All bed racers MUST sign a waiver of Liability and acknowledgement of Bed Race Rules and

Regulations before participating in race



All runners/pushers should wear athletic shoes suitable for street running



The use of helmets, kneepads, and or elbow pads are strongly encouraged for all participants



Racers are responsible for their own insurance



Bed riders/drivers must sit or lay flat on bed. No Standing



All team members must be in contact of the bed at the start and finish of the race



Pushers must be in control of the bed until it comes to a complete stop



Teams may not interfere or impede the progress of an opposing team



All beds must pass inspection before race. Race officials have the right to disqualify any bed

deemed unsafe



Beds must run as per inspection, Items on bed cannot be removed or added

AWARDS:



A award of $500.00 will be given to the first place winner and $250.00 for second place



A trophy will be given for “ Best Looking Bed” (Bed must participate in race)

BED CONSTRUCTION:



Twin size bed only with mattress or padding. Minimum 4 in.



Any size wheels are permitted



Beds must have 4 wheels and designed so that all 4 wheels contact the ground at all times



Brakes and steering are optional



Beds must be pushed through the race using 4 people, pulling is not allowed



Handles are required and may not protrude more than 12 inches from each side of the bed.



Team name must be clearly displayed on bed



Remember Safety First

(No glass, no sharp edges).
