Unit 2 Culminating Activity: Analyzing your Food Intake and Activity
This assignment requires you to analyze your food intake and compare it to the recommended daily
requirements and Canada’s Food Guide.
Step 1: Food Diary
a) Keep a diary of your food intake (including drinks) for at least 3 days
b) Choose one of those days that you feel is most typical of your food intake and use that day for
your analysis
Step 2: Analysis of Food Intake
a) Using the chart provided, complete your daily nutrient intake values (DRI) for your chosen day
from your food diary. You must record ALL the foods (i.e. for a sandwich, you would record the
nutrients for the bread, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo etc.)
b) Use the following web-link to find the DRI intake guide to help you with your nutrient intake
analysis
Step 3: Daily Recommended Intake and Canada’s Food Guide
a) Compare your nutritional intake with the DRI for Adolescent females. Create a chart indicating
whether you are below, above or equal to.

Using the information from class, explain how your daily food consumption compares to the nutritional
status of the average Canadian. Please provide specific examples from your class notes
