II. When graphing a linear equation in slope-intercept form, we simply look for
the y – intercept and count to the next point using the slope. Remember to
always read the slope as rise/run.
Ex1: Graph y = -(1/2)x + 4
However, if the graph is not in slope intercept form, it may be easier to find
each intercept and connect those points.
Ex 2: Graph 3x – 9y = 27 by finding x and y intercepts.
Ex 3: Represent the following situation using
a linear equation. Then graph the equation.
You get paid $10 per hour for cutting hair at
a local barber shop. You also received a
one-time $35 stipend for being early to
work.
