I wish to console the immediate family and all members of OWSD for this great loss. I pray for her gentle
soul to rest in perfect peace.
From all I read about her she was a woman of substance, and I pray that all her struggles and
contributions to OWSD will not be in vain.
Adieu Faridah.

To the family of Dr. Farida Shah
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I had an opportunity to work with Dr. Shah and knew of her deep
commitment to TWAS and to OWSD. She believed in the value of science and its importance to the
developing world. And she worked to support women’s place in science, knowing that this talent could
make a difference in addressing human needs. Dr. Shah was a “force,” and the impact of her work will be
felt beyond her passing. My deepest sympathies,
Shirley Malcom
It is just a pity. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
