AMVETS Junior ROTC and ROTC medals and certificates are

authorized by Army and Air Force regulations. While no regulations

exist for Navy or Marine Corps ROTC units, AMVETS also recognizes

these branches. The award consists of a medal pendant and ribbon

bar. One cadet from each detachment is recognized annually.

Few would deny that America’s future will one day be in the hands of

today’s youth, including those present here today. Consequently,

AMVETS is very proud to be a small part of this outstanding youth

development program known for fostering good citizenship and

preparing them for what lies ahead.

Those selected must demonstrate a positive attitude toward the

(Junior) Reserve Officers Training Corps, demonstrate a neat

personal appearance, demonstrate outstanding personal attributes,

have attained a grade of “A” or its equivalent in (Junior) ROTC during

the most recent grading period, and be in good academic standing in

all other course work.
