Title <title></title>
Titles need to start with your main keyword phrase, have a minimum of 55 characters and a maximum
of 65 characters with spaces. Local businesses should include their city and state within their title and
national business should include their business name in their title. Use dashes “-” in between keyword
phrases and a separator “|” to divide your businesses city and state or business name.
Meta Description <meta name=”description” content=”” />
Meta Descriptions need to begin with your main keyword phrase, have a minimum of 150 characters
and a maximum of 160 characters with spaces. Local businesses should include their city and state
within their description and national business should include their business name within their
description.
Meta Keywords <meta name=”keywords” content=”” />
Meta keywords should not be used. Competing businesses copy other businesses keywords and
implement the same strategy’s hoping to gain their position in the search engines. Google and Bing, the
top two search engines in the United States don’t follow this tag, meaning no matter what keywords or
phrases you put in this tag, they won’t help your rankings.
Heading Tags <h1></h1>
Your H1 heading tag should contain your main keyword phrase and should be no longer than 10 words.
Content <p></p>
Page content should be unique, never copied, and worth reading. Include your keyword phrases lightly
and have no less than 350 to 450 words per page.
Images <img src=”” alt=”” title=”” />
Each page should contain an image with the file name the same as the pages main keyword phrase.
Separate each word with a dash “-” and “.jpg” images are the best! Optimize each image by optimizing
the images Meta data using the same main keyword phrases.
NoFollow <a href=”” title=”” rel=”nofollow”></a>
Every 3rd party link within your website needs to have a rel=”nofollow”. By not using these, you are
passing page rank to other websites which can hurt your website rankings.
