Example of a Letter or dialogue to Solicit palanca Letters for your candidates for the weekend.

Hi! I have a great favor to ask of you. _______________(Candidate’s name) will be participating in a (Men or Women’s)

retreat weekend _(Fill in weekend dates here)___ that is a once in a lifetime opportunity! A person can only be a candidate

at a Tres Dias weekend once in their lifetime. After that he/she may apply to serve on the team, and have the opportunity to

give other “candidates” the same experience.

Part of the experience is to receive letters from family and friends some time during the weekend. This is a surprise. I am

asking you, if you are able, to write a brief note to ____________ (your candidate’s name)

The note:

Can be a brief paragraph note or a long letter.

Should be encouraging to (him/her) --- what positive qualities or changes do you/have you seen in (him/her)? What

personality characteristic do you appreciate in (him/her)? What funny or touching memories do you have of (him/her).

Many individuals take this as an opportunity to say what they have never had the chance to say before. Sometimes it is

easier to write something than it is to say it face to face.

Remember this is a surprise, (he/she) does not know they will be receiving any letters from anyone

Your letter is completely confidential. No one will read your letter except (your candidate’s name), unless (he/she) chooses

to share it with someone. Therefore the letter should be as personal as you feel comfortable making it.

It is important to say, “I love you” if you feel comfortable doing so.

Put your letter in an envelope, seal it, write (his/her) full name on the front, and write family or friend in the upper left-hand

corner.

If your spouse also wants to write a letter please ask them to write a separate letter and put it in a separate sealed envelope.

I’ll pick the letters up from you, or you can mail them to me at _______________.

I need your letters no later than (date) Please feel free to call me if you have any questions my phone number is

______________.

I can’t stress enough how important these letters are to the candidates. Many of us don’t take the time to tell each other the

positive things we see in them. This can be an opportunity to share our hearts with each other. I urge you to consider this

opportunity. If you are not able to write a letter, that is fine I just wanted to make this opportunity available to you. Thanks for

the consideration.
