• You need to know how to order and compare decimals.
Compare place values digit by digit.
Example: 3.0203 is more than 3.015 because 2 hundredths is more than 1 hundredth.
• You need to feel confi dent about calculating with decimals in practical situations.
Example: £1  € 0.88.
To convert pounds to euros, multiply the amount in pounds by 0.88
To convert euros to pounds, divide the amount in euros by 0.88
• You need to be able to round numbers appropriately.
Example: the number 24.9058 is 24.9 to 1 decimal place and 24.91 to 2 decimal places.
