Transition Conference Form (In partial fulfillment of FAIR 305a)
“Transition:” A passage from one state, stage or place to another, a change, a movement, development, or
evolution from one form, stage or style to another.
The Transition Conference is a process to assist you in assessing and reviewing your past academic and personal
experience, and in developing a plan for the direction of the remainder of your undergraduate studies.
Preparing for the Transition Conference:
1. Submit your Writing Portfolio by the due date.
2. Invite participants to your Transition Conference: a) your Fairhaven faculty advisor; b) another faculty
member (Fairhaven or WWU) and c) an upper division Fairhaven student.
3. Schedule your Transition Conference with all participants.
4. Prepare a written Transition Conference Statement & distribute to your participants prior to your Conference
date.
5. Submit this signed form and a copy of the Transition Statement to Jackie McClure after the Conference.
The Transition Conference Statement, some prompting questions:
◙ What topics have engaged your interest so far in your education?
◙ What is the relationship between your general academic explorations and the Concentration or major
you wish to pursue?
◙ Describe the main themes in the major or Interdisciplinary Concentration you wish to design.
◙ What skills do you wish to develop with your Concentration or major?
◙ What is, or what do you hope will be, the relationship of your degree work to the rest of your life
and/or career?
◙ Do you think you are ready to undertake this Concentration or major and why?
◙ What questions, advice or concerns would you like to discuss in the conference?
