TPA TAX CREDITS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
An individual who makes contributions or pays fees to
TPA or TPJA for support of extracurricular activities may qualify
for the Arizona public schools state tax credit
.
To qualify for this credit an individual must make cash contributions or pay fees to Tempe
Preparatory Academy or Tempe Prep Junior Academy for support of extracurricular activities
or for character education programs.
The credit is equal to the amount contributed or the amount of fees paid. For single taxpayers
or heads of household, the credit cannot exceed $200.00. For married taxpayers that file a
joint return, the credit cannot exceed $400.00. If married taxpayers file separate returns, each
spouse may claim ½ of the credit that would have been allowed on a joint return.
You may qualify for this credit if you pay fees for a specific child to participate in an extra
curricular activity or character education program. However, we strongly encourage you to
speak with a tax professional regarding this practice to be aware of potential federal tax
consequences.
The fees must be paid to Tempe Preparatory Academy or Tempe Preparatory Junior
Academy; they cannot be given to an organization such as the Parent Organization or Tempe
Preparatory School Foundation.
Please note that paying a fee with a tax credit is not the same as a Tax Credit Donation.
To receive a tax credit for a donation, please fill out the “Tax Credit Donation Form” (on
the back) and return with your donation to the TPA Business Office or to make an online
donation by clicking on the Donate link at
TPA/ TPJA will give you a receipt for contributions or payment of extracurricular activity
fees.
Once you have determined you are allowed a credit for contributions and have received a
receipt from TPA, you must attach the Arizona Form 322-Credit for Contributions Made or
Fees Paid to Public Schools to your income tax return to claim the credit.
Please contact Paula Sands at if you have any
questions about how to make a donation.
