9.
Dress of representatives is most important, particularly at receptions and other
ceremonies. If not in uniform, competitors should at all times be smartly
dressed. Team uniform must be worn whilst travelling and when directed to do
so by the team manager. Dress for practice is important, REMEMBER THE
INTERNATIONAL RULES ON COSTUME WHICH INCLUDES PRACTICE
DAYS. You are being watched and ‘possibly assessed’ every time you go to
the floor during practice and training sessions.
Exhibition programs must be well rehearsed and ‘ad lib’ displays are not
10.
acceptable. All skaters chosen for international events are expected to have an
exhibition program not a competition program and they may be asked at any
time to give an exhibition. Care must be taken in consultation with the team
manager and your trainer, to ensure as far as possible that programs are
suitable and are not similar to those of other competitors.
11.
The allocation of rooms will be carried out in the best interest of all competitors,
so as to ensure the maximum amount of rest without disturbances. Should you
decide to celebrate remember that when you are returning to your rooms you
must be quiet as other members of the team and residents in the hotel may be
sleeping. Until the conclusion of all the competitions, competitors, trainers and
officials should take the greatest care to avoid disturbance or noise at nights,
so to give all competitors maximum amount of rest.
12.
A tidy hotel room makes for an efficient team member. Make sure you are tidy
at all times, be self-sufficient, and look after yourself and your belongings. Do
not expect to borrow any items from another person, it may be all right the first
time but repeated borrowing loses friends.
13.
Although you may be given a timetable before the event, check and check
again that your practice and competition times have not changed. Times being
altered is common at international events. Do not rely on others to get you to
the stadium on time for practice or competition.
14.
Skate maintenance and equipment is your problem. You must not go away
without the equipment being in first class order. Spare wheels should already
have the ballraces fitted so that if necessary you can change wheels quickly.
Toe stops should also be checked, your equipment is your own responsibility
not that of an official, trainer or parent.
Music – Make sure you carry your own music at all times, with spare copies at
15.
different speeds should there be a problem with the stadiums equipment when
you arrive for first practice. If your music is on CD or mini disc you should also
have a taped copy available as not all stadiums have all facilities. Your music
should be clearly marked with your name, event and country and whether it is
short, long, OSP or freedance.
16.
When selected to skate abroad you will be informed of what the total costs will
be. You will also be informed as to how much, if any, the Federation will
contribute towards these total costs. You must pay for extra food, drinks,
telephone calls or anything else that you may want. This will be your
responsibility from the time you leave the country until you arrive back.
Remember do not put extras on your room bills at hotels, if you do they are
your responsibility, and will not be paid by anyone else. These costs would
have to be paid for before you leave the hotel.
