A bond certificate is a printed document that states all details of a bond. It is essentially a receipt that shows evidence of the bond ownership and its terms. Bond certificate templates should include space for the bond issuer's name, the bond par value, interest rate and maturity date. The bond authorization issuances need to be approved by the state and federal authorities before companies begin bond issuing procedures. Preparing a bond certificate of any existing bonds is a good idea, but not always required. If the bond is intended to be sold at a discount, rather than paying any interest, then no interest rate should be noted on the certificate.

What is a Corporate Bond Certificate

Corporate bonds are bonds issued by a company and sold to an investor and are a tool of debt financing. The term is used to describe longer-term debt obligations with the maturity of more than a year. A corporate bond certificate is a loan agreement between the issuer and the investor and the terms of the bond obligate the issuer to repay the borrowed sum by a specific date. Corporate bond certificates should feature the issuer's name, maturity date, face value, interest rate and interest payment schedule.
