Part 20 Backdating
We can usually award benefit from the Monday after the day we receive your claim. Sometimes we can pay benefit starting from an earlier date.
This is called backdating. We can backdate up to six months if you have a good reason for not claiming earlier.
Proof
For a claim to be backdated we must be satisfied that:
• you have a good reason for not claiming earlier; and
needed
• that good reason applied continuously during the backdating period.
