Part 5 How you will be paid
If you are entitled to Council Tax Reduction, we will pay this into your Council Tax Account.
If you are a council tenant, we will pay your Housing Benefit into your rent account.
If you pay rent to a housing association or you are a private tenant who does not qualify for Local
Housing Allowance, we can pay your Housing Benefit straight into your, your landlord, or your landlord’s
agent’s bank or building society account. (We cannot pay benefit into post office card accounts.) Go to
part 5a.
If you are a tenant getting Local Housing Allowance, we will pay your benefit straight into your bank or
building society account, unless we decide that this may cause you difficulty. Go to Part 5b.

Part 5a If you pay rent to a housing association or you
do not qualify for Local Housing Allowance

our reception at Hackney Service Centre.
You can get advice about opening and running a bank account from any bank, building society, or
credit union. You can also get advice from Citizens Advice.
