m. Draw lines to identify the tide level at the following stages:
(1) Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW)
(2) Mean High Water (MHW)
(3) Representative water depths, in feet, inside the farm boundaries corrected to the zero tide level, Mean Lower Low
Water (MLLW). (A minimum of six depth measurements are required.)
n. Identify the prevailing direction of the surface water flows at the ebb (outgoing) and flood (incoming) tides.
o. Identify any anadromous streams. (This information can be obtained from a local Department of Fish and Game, Division
of Habitat and Restoration office, Catalog of Anadromous Streams.)
p. Identify other human uses at or near your proposed site. (Refer to Section E, Current Land Use.)
q. Identify where your cross-sectional diagram(s) are being depicted from and label the line(s) beginning with “A” on one
end and “A’” on the other end. (Please refer to the Site Plan example.)
r. Identify major natural and man-made features on or proposed for the site, as well as resource and habitat
information.
3. Cross-Sectional Diagram
Provide a Cross-sectional Diagram (side view) of the culture gear/facilities and identify the construction materials. Be
sure to give the dimensions of all gear/facilities. The gear/facilities you propose to use for each species to be cultured must
be included. More than one diagram may be required. Include a corresponding line, from your Site Plan (“A” – “A’”, “B” -
“B’”, etc.), which depicts the major natural and man-made features on or proposed for the site, as well as subtidal resource
and habitat information. The scale for the Site Plan and Cross-Sectional Diagram should be close, if not exact. (Please
refer to the cross-sectional diagram examples.)
4. Detailed Drawing
Provide a Detailed Drawing (to scale with dimensions) of all facilities on your site plan showing their placement,
construction materials, and anchoring systems. More than one drawing may be required. The total area must correspond
to the total number of acres you are applying for in Section B.4. The anchoring system, including the anchors, must be
included inside the farm boundaries.
5. Photograph(s)
Provide an 8" x 10" color photograph of your proposed farm site. If not all of the components/parcels of your proposal can
be included in one photograph, please provide additional photographs showing the locations of the other components, for
example, the area proposed for hardening or the area proposed for caretaker facilities. On the photo, clearly indicate
corner number 1 and the date, time and tide level when the photograph was taken. Low tide is preferred. Also, indicate
north or the direction that the photographer was facing while taking the photo. If you are applying for a suspended culture
facility, please compose the photo so the nearest shoreline is visible in the background.
H. FARM DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATING PLAN
1. List pertinent experience and expertise of persons that will be working on this project. Include a staffing plan if appropriate.
