20Prescription coverage guide
If you apply and qualify for prescription coverage on Form IL-1363, the prescription coverage
you may receive is based on your age and income (with a few exceptions). We will send you
the prescription card for the coverage for which you qualify.
If you want to estimate which prescription coverage you may receive, follow the
instructions in Part 1. If you want to learn more about each coverage, see Part 2.
Part 1
First:
You must qualify for prescription coverage (see “Who should apply?”on Page 2).
Next:
Use the guide below to help you find the type of prescription coverage you may
receive.
Prescription coverage guide
If you are 65 years old or older,
You may receive prescription coverage through either the
Pharmaceutical Assistance program or SeniorCare.
If your income is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty
level, you may receive SeniorCare* prescription coverage. (Last
year, these amounts were $17,720 for a single person and
$23,880 for a married couple. New amounts will be set by the
federal goverment in February 2003.)
If you do not qualify for SeniorCare*, you may receive
Pharmaceutical Assistance prescription coverage.
* If you are a qualified additional resident or if you are not a
U.S. citizen or qualified legal immigrant, you qualify for
Pharmaceutical Assistance prescription coverage, not SeniorCare
prescription coverage.
If you are disabled and not yet 65 years old,
You may receive coverage through the Pharmaceutical Assistance
program. You do not qualify for SeniorCare.
If you become 65 years old during 2003 and you qualify for
SeniorCare, your prescription coverage will change from
Pharmaceutical Assistance to SeniorCare.
We will send you the prescription card for the coverage you qualify for based on
your application information.
