Dear Family,

Our class is taking a survey to find out what different people’s favorite ice cream

is. I would like you to help your child ask one person which kind of ice cream

they like best: chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. Help your child write the choice

down on a piece of paper and bring the paper to school.

In class, we will make a tally chart or graph to show the results of the survey.

Then the children will use their knowledge of subtraction to answer questions

such as, How many more people liked chocolate than vanilla?
