Dear RHA General Body Members,

I would like to serve as the President of RHA for the upcoming year. I have been involved in

RHA for the past three years as a council historian, the Vice President of Administration, and

the Vice President of Internal Development. The times I spend working with RHA members and

residents and on RHA projects and promotion are the best parts of my week. RHA is my passion

and my defining experience at CWRU. It has made a lasting impact on my life and I hope to lead

RHA so it can positively influence others’ experiences.

As a first-year student, I was the Historian for Mistletoe Residential College Council. This

position was created for me after I expressed continued interest in RHA following my defeat in

council elections. In this position, I learned the basics of small program planning, how to

motivate team members, and the importance of recognizing others’ accomplishments. My

experiences in council and advisors who believed in my leadership potential led me to run for

the RHA Executive Board. As the Vice President of Administration, I became familiar with the

inner workings of RHA including the budget, website, and governing documents. My

knowledge of these aspects of the organization has helped in my support of fellow Executive

Board members. I ran for the Vice President of Internal Development in order advance the

position to the next level through offering continuing training for RHA members and involving

the Internal Development committee in the creation of development opportunities for the

community. I believe my involvement in RHA over the past three years has prepared me for the

President position.

It is extremely important for the President to promote a constant, reputable public face to the

campus community. In the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of

administrators on a variety of initiatives and committees to improve the student experience. I

have networked with these administrators and other campus leaders to promote RHA and

increase my leadership presence at CWRU. I believe I have the experience and temperament to

be a respected leader on this campus that can successfully represent RHA to the campus and

continue to build relationships with other students and offices at CWRU.

However, I feel the most important qualities of an RHA president are supportive leadership,

organizational skills, vision, and passion. RHA is my primary commitment and I am prepared to

dedicate all of the necessary time to maintain and expand all that RHA has achieved. My days

are spent willing and happily with RHA and my passion is undeniable. In regards to

organizational skills, I have improved upon my skills acquired during my time as VP Admin and

have become adept at time-lining, scheduling, writing agendas. During the last two years, RHA

has made enormous strides to become one of the most respected and influential student-run

organizations on this campus. As the President, I hope to build on the visioning of prior boards

with the new Executive Board in addition to creating new, unique goals of our own. I would like

RHA to work toward these goals throughout the year in all that we do--linking our actions to
