Introduction

Welcome to the ASB GetWise

Primary Teacher Resource Pack.

A leading panel of education experts have developed this resource with close reference to both the New Zealand

Curriculum and the Financial Capability Progression document.

The New Zealand Curriculum Financial Capability Progression document is a resource developed by Ministry of

Education that details curriculum-based learning outcomes that are designed to increase the financial literacy of

New Zealand students.

The Teacher Resource Pack is tailored to the learning needs of Level 1 (Years 1 & 2) students and has been designed

to complement the interactive workshops offered by the ASB GetWise team.

In it, you will find post-workshop activities that are intended to build upon and reinforce the key learning outcomes

that are introduced by our programme.

These activities come in a wide variety of formats including:

• Worksheets

• Teacher-led discussions

• Games

• Research assignments

In addition, most activities in this resource pack are constructed in a flexible format, allowing you to customise the

way that they are delivered and the time you spend on them.

The ASB GetWise Programme is dedicated to the development of financial literacy skills of New Zealand students.

The specific aim of the ASB GetWise programme is to engage students in an interactive and fun learning environment

while equipping them with essential money management skills, primarily through the delivery of engaging and

educational workshops. However, we believe that teacher involvement in, and reinforcement of, our programme is

an essential part of creating a behaviour changing and meaningful student learning experience.
