SAMPLE SPONSORSHIP LETTER
Dear family, friends and colleagues,
What do the children of Mississippi, Chechnya, Sri Lanka, Haiti and Israel have in common?
They have all benefited from the expertise of the Herzog- Israel Center for the Treatment of
Psychotrauma. While the physical scars of natural disasters, wars and terrorism may be
visible, those of trauma are not. Trauma is a condition with devastating effects. If left
untreated, it can last a lifetime. The Herzog Israel Center for the Treatment of
Psychotrauma (ICTP) has developed successful ways to help heal the pain. The ICTP has
been developing and providing services and programs for populations exposed to trauma in
Israel and internationally since 1989. The ICTP has become a world-recognized innovator in
the research and treatment of the widespread effects of trauma

bike-a-thon. In April 2011, I will
begin a three-day ride ( or one day ).We will start in the Golan Heights and finish
our journey in Jerusalem. The goal is to raise money to support the ICTP’S child
resilience programs in Israel. ICTP’s unique child resilience programs work with
educators, parents, and children in order to create comprehensive systems of
support
for
traumatized
children.

The monies raised through the
will go directly to support three projects:
PARENTS PLACE IN SDEROT- Families in Sderot are living under fire since 2001 from over
10,000 Kassam missiles. With high rates of children suffering from PTSD and developmental
delays, parents have been finding it difficult to cope and properly care for their children.
Parents’ place in Sderot was built in order to strengthen parents to best address children’s’ needs.
They have also begun to address the needs of the Ethiopian population in Sderot. Providing
workshops in Amharic, and incorporating the unique cultural needs of this community.
CHILDREN WITH CANCER AND THEIR SIBLINGS - ICTP is developing innovative ways to
help families cope with severe illness of a child. They provide phone counseling for parents whose
child finished radio- or chemotherapy. Recognizing the need to provide services for siblings of ill
children, the ICTP implemented “Steven’s Project” a pilot camp for siblings of children with cancer
providing therapeutic services combined with outdoor activity. There is a demand for this
program and support services throughout the year.
NATIONAL SCHOOL RESILIENCE PROJECT - Was originally developed and implemented by
the ICTP beginning in 2000 in response to ongoing exposure to terrorism. The program aims to
educate and prepare professionals in educational settings to strengthen the resilience of children
in the face of crisis, disaster and other trauma. The intervention from pre-school through high
school works by training teachers and school professionals. This program has been implemented
widely in Israel, including Jewish and Arab schools. By training teachers in 40 schools, ICTP can
affect the lives of over 30,000 children.
In order for me to fulfil my goal of helping to help those in need of trauma services, I am turning
to my family, friends and colleagues and asking each one of you to pledge as much as you can to
help me reach the minimum of $2,000 ($400 for one day riders). There is no maximum of how
much can be raised! Your donation is tax deductible.
