Page 3-----Qualities of the Form
The third page should give readers a sense of what makes your form similar and
different from other poetic forms. It should answer questions that talk about the actual form.
(Does this form of poetry deal with specific themes? Is there a rhyme scheme? Is there a
specific meter? What poetic qualities does it usually have? Does a poet have to do
anything special to create the poem?)
Page 4-----Famous Example of a Poem in the Form With Citation
The fourth page should have a famous example of the poetic form, or if famous
versions are too difficult to comprehend, another published poem that uses this form. There
should also be a citation in MLA form at the bottom of the page that says where you got the
poem from.
Page 5-----Annotations of the Example Poem
The fifth page, which is opposite to the fourth page, should have your annotations of
the poem. Your annotations should point out any use of rhyme schemes, meters, alliteration,
similies, metaphors, assonance, consonance, symbols, stanzas, enjambment, etc. Use
different colors to underline and discuss different poetic tools used in the poem.
Page 6-----Your own original poem in the form
The sixth page has a poem that you wrote in the form you chose. We will workshop
these poems in small groups so you have a chance to make sure that it fits the form and says
what you want it to say.
Page 7-----Annotations of your own Poem
The seventh page, which is opposite of the sixth page, should have your annotations
of your own poem so others can see the poetic techniques you used in your poem.
Page 8-----About the Author Page
The back cover should have a self-drawn picture of yourself along with a short
biography of you, the author.
