Scoring:
The planes will be constructed in a timed event. The designer will provide their partner with the plans
and the instructor will provide the paper. The time will end when the partner believes they are finished
the plane. The designer may not provide any instruction to the partner other than the plans they
provide. Once the partner has completed the plane, they switch roles and the designer will now become
the builder of their partner's plane. The times will be added together.
The designer of the plane will launch their own plane. No major modifications may be done to the plane
after their partner has built it. Any modification may result in disqualification of the plane. You will have
three attempts to reach the maximum distance. The longest attempt out of the three will be recorded.
Your partner's distance will be added to your distance.
Partners will be determined by the instructor and announced on race day. The team with the fastest
assembly time and the furthest distance will be deemed the winners.
Testing:
You are encouraged to test and re-test your airplane. Try having a friend build your airplane before the
timed event. See where they struggle with and add more instructions or simplify your design. Airplanes
must only be test flown within the drafting lab.
