Title: Marine Fish Program Manager
Department: Fisheries
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Fisheries Director

Goal: To conserve, assess and manage marine fish resources for sustainable harvest
opportunity by Tribal members.
Summary:
Provide biological services and management recommendations for marine fish resources within
the usual and accustomed fishing grounds of the Suquamish Tribe. Supervise and coordinate
Tribal fisheries management programs according to the goals established by the Fisheries
Director and Tribal Council. Manage the personnel and budget for Salmon Enhancement,
Resource Assessment and annual regulatory programs within Fisheries Department. Consult
directly with the Fisheries Director to develop long range Tribal Fisheries management
programs.
Major Responsibilities:
Participate in the annual planning process in the development of west coast and Puget Sound
salmon fisheries, providing both technical information specific to east Kitsap stocks and analysis
and recommendations for other stocks migrating through Suquamish usual and accustomed
fishing grounds
Develop and review preseason stock abundance information and harvest allocations for marine
fish. Recommend annual Suquamish Tribal Fishing Plan for both mixed stock marine fisheries
as well as terminal area opportunities
Collaborate with a diverse group of Tribal and State biologists/managers through the
development and in season management of fisheries. Track allocation sharing in season to
provide for an equitable distribution of the catch when requested by the Fisheries Director
Maintain and expand Marine Fish Management data base. Insure data base compatibility with
other data sets used internally (Shellfish Progarm, Salmon Enhancement and Environmental
Services Divisions). Prepare yearly summaries of run timing, total harvest, fishing effort and
economic value for marine fish. Supervise resolution of discrepancies between the Tribal data
base and that maintained by the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the Northwest Indian
Fisheries Commission
